Preparing for Surgery

Once your physician has scheduled your appointment:

  • Our nurse will call you before surgery to discuss your health history, if required.  This may result in the need for a physical or EKG.
  • A nurse from the surgery center will call you by 2:00 PM the business day before your surgery.  If you have not received a call by between 1pm and 3pm, please call us at 585-267-8200 to confirm your arrival time.
  • As a federal requirement, please arrange for someone to accompany you the day of your surgery who will be able to wait at the center during the procedure and will be available to take you home.
  • Please inform your physician if there is a change in your medical condition  or if you have a cold, cough or fever.
  • Unless otherwise instructed,  it is important that you do not eat or drink anything after midnight (including water, gum or candy) or your surgery will be cancelled.  If you take medications, we will discuss these with you when you call for your appointment time.
  • If you smoke, it is recommended to stop smoking before noon, the day prior to surgery.
